We were delighted when Jenny and Andy approached us to photograph their Faversham wedding which was to be held at the famous Shepherd Neame Brewery. The brewery was a new wedding venue location for us and what an exciting range of photographic opportunities it presented!
We arranged for a pre-wedding photo shoot with Jenny and Andy at Hall Place Bexley shortly before the wedding and this was also the perfect time to finalise the wedding day timings and photography. Using an image from the photo shoot we presented Jenny and Andy with a signing frame for their guests to write messages for them on on the wedding day itself.
Jenny and Andy were keen on us capturing their wedding day in a documentary wedding photography style as they only wanted a few individual and formal group shots so that they could be as relaxed as possible. This is our normal way of working – to be unobtrusive as possible to allow our couples, their families and friends to enjoy the wedding day without feeling under-pressure to have to wait for certain shots.
On the day of the wedding, Jenny and Andy seemed very relaxed – possibly the benefit of having had a pre-wedding photo shoot before-hand or perhaps the relaxed atmosphere of the brewery itself played a part. We should give a special shout out to Samantha Jeal, the Shepherd Neame’s wedding co-ordinator, who was very friendly, highly professional and a pleasure to work with.
Andy and his men arrived and after a few informal shots in the bar and outside, they went to the ceremony room, located above the Shepherd Neame’s Visitor Centre, to await Jenny’s arrival.
Saturday is a market day in the square outside the brewery and this led to a wonderful atmosphere, especially on Jenny’s arrival with her father in a Beaufort convertible vintage car.
Jennifer and Andrew had a wonderful ceremony on the first floor of the Visitor Centre, which dates back to the 15th Century and has exposed timber beams from which hops were hung, followed by canapés in the exclusive bar area below which had a fine range of Shepherd Neame’s ales and Pimm’s available for their guests.
Afterwards, Jennifer and Andrew went for a short drive while we headed down to the Creek for bride and groom portraits – although the drive was a little longer than intended!! After capturing some wonderful images of the two of them, we returned to the brewery to undertake the formal group photographs with family and friends. We were very fortunate as Samantha allowed us access onto the walkway above the courtyard which meant negotiating our way safely past the vats to photograph the entire group.
The evening was celebrated in The Old Brewery Store with it’s bar and function room where the meal (which was wonderful by the way!), speeches and evening entertainment including live band was held.
Many congratulations to Jenny and Andy on having such a wonderful wedding day and we wish them all the happiness in their lives together.
