There is something quintessentially ‘London’ about a riverside wedding, and Caroline and Hugh’s Spring wedding at the Trafalgar Tavern were no exception. Nestled on the South Bank in the heart of Greenwich, this iconic venue sits proudly beside the Old Royal Naval College—an area steeped in maritime history and arguably one of the most atmospheric corners of the capital.
Saying “I Do” in the Nelson Room
The ceremony took place in the elegant Nelson Room, which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Thames. The natural light was spectacular, providing the perfect backdrop for the couple’s vows.
Caroline looked effortlessly chic in a sophisticated Nigel Rayment Boutique gown, whilst her bridesmaids complemented the Spring season perfectly in sky-blue dresses from David’s Bridal. The atmosphere was made even more special by a live guitarist and singer, whose acoustic performance added a beautiful, personal touch to the proceedings.
Riverside Drinks & Canapés
Following the “I dos,” the celebrations moved into the Hawke & Howe Bar. Whilst guests tucked into canapés and celebratory bubbles, the venue team worked their magic, transforming the Nelson Room from a ceremony space into a grand banquet hall.

Before the wedding breakfast commenced, we made the most of the venue’s incredible location. I whisked Caroline and Hugh away for a few quiet moments against the backdrop of the River Thames and the O2 Arena. The contrast of the historic tavern against London’s modern skyline makes for truly timeless wedding photography.

Laughter, Duets, and a Full Dancefloor
The reception was a riot of joy from start to finish. In a brilliant twist, the toastmaster and best man donned wigs for a surprise duet that left the room in stitches. It’s these quirky, candid moments that really define a wedding day.
As the sun set over Greenwich, the Miracle Band took to the stage, ensuring the dancefloor stayed packed well into the night.
