Swallows Oast Rustic Barn Wedding | Georgina & Steve
A Rustic Barn Wedding at Swallows Oast for Georgina & Steve
There is a unique magic to a Sussex countryside wedding. Georgina and Steve’s celebration was a perfect example of rustic elegance, spanning the historic architecture of Wadhurst Church and the charming, timber-framed beauty of Swallows Oast in Ticehurst.
As a recommended photographer at Swallows Oast, it is always a pleasure to return to this versatile venue and capture how each couple makes the space their own.
A Joyful Ceremony at Wadhurst Church
The day began at Wadhurst Church, a stunning building with parts dating back to the 12th century. Despite some typical British ‘pale sunshine’ in the morning, the atmosphere inside was nothing but bright. The historic stone walls and long aisle provided a grand yet intimate setting for Georgina and Steve to exchange their vows.
Reception at Swallows Oast Rustic Barn
Despite light rain earlier in the morning, Olga & Nick were able to hold their ceremony outdoors at The Pavilion at Swallows Oast — one of the venue’s most sought-after features. Thankfully, the rain cleared just in time, leaving a fresh, romantic atmosphere for their vows.
The Barn Wedding Reception At Swallows Oast
After the ceremony, the party moved to Swallows Oast. This venue is a dream for couples seeking a quintessential Kent/Sussex barn wedding.
The celebrations kicked off with drinks and canapés in the marquee, allowing guests to stay dry and comfortable while enjoying the views of the surrounding countryside. The main wedding breakfast took place in the main barn, where the speeches provided a perfect mix of laughter and emotional tributes.
Portraits in the Woods & Meadows
One of my favourite things about being a Swallows Oast wedding photographer is the access to the ‘hidden’ photography spots. After the meal, the rain cleared just in time for Georgina and Steve to have some ‘chill-out’ time.
We headed into the Swallows Oast woods and meadows for their couple portraits. The lush greenery and tall grasses offer a romantic, natural backdrop that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the party. It’s the perfect moment for newlyweds to catch their breath before hitting the dance floor.
Why we love Swallows Oast: The transition from the grand, historic church to the cozy, rustic barn offers a wonderful variety for your wedding gallery. Plus, the woodland walk is one of the best spots in Ticehurst for golden hour photos!
