Megan & Leigh’s Wedding at St John the Evangelist Church, Bexley – A Beautiful Celebration in Kent

St John the Evangelist Church in the heart of Bexley village, Kent, has always been a venue I’ve hoped to photograph a wedding at. When Megan and Leigh chose me to capture their special day there in early Autumn 2022, I was absolutely thrilled. This stunning church, with its rich history and gorgeous architecture, was the perfect setting for a truly memorable wedding.

St John the Evangelist Church, located in Bexley, Kent, boasts Gothic Revival architecture, a tall spire, and beautifully detailed stained-glass windows. These features provided a breathtaking backdrop for Megan and Leigh’s wedding, creating a perfect fusion of classic beauty and romantic charm. The church’s architectural grandeur made for stunning photos, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the day.

The Wedding Ceremony: Laughter, Tears and Joy

In the lead-up to the big day, I had the pleasure of meeting with Father Edward Barlow, the vicar of St John’s, to discuss the wedding arrangements and photograph opportunities. Father Edward, an incredibly warm and welcoming person, also happens to be an avid Doctor Who fan—something we had a lot of fun chatting about as we planned the day’s events.

On the wedding day, Megan arrived in a charming vintage car with her father, looking radiant in a beautiful wedding dress from With Love Bridal in New Eltham, London. I could already tell it was going to be a day full of laughter when Megan’s father playfully placed a SOLD sign around Megan after they got out of the car—bringing smiles and laughter from the bridal party!

The ceremony itself was a heartwarming occasion. Megan and Leigh exchanged vows in front of their family and friends, creating an atmosphere filled with love, joy, and emotion. Leigh’s reaction when he saw Megan walking down the aisle was priceless, with tears of happiness flowing as they were reunited at the altar.
