An Intimate Summer Wedding at South Lodge Hotel, Horsham, Sussex

Returning from our summer break in Lake Annecy, we couldn’t wait to get back behind the lens for Beccie and David’s beautiful South Lodge Hotel wedding. Having followed Beccie’s excited wedding countdown on social media for months, it was wonderful to finally see their vision come to life at this iconic Sussex venue.

A Stunning Sussex Wedding Venue: South Lodge Hotel

Set within 93 acres of breathtaking parkland, South Lodge (part of the Exclusive Hotels and Venues group) offers some of the most panoramic views of the South Downs in the county. It is truly an idyllic location for a luxury wedding.

Beccie and David chose an intimate, light-filled room on the first floor for their ceremony, allowing their guests to take in the rolling hills as they exchanged their vows. Their reception followed in the magnificent Gladstone Room, a banqueting space defined by its high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and triple-aspect windows that flood the room with natural light.

The Wedding Day: Emotion and Elegance

The day was filled with touching moments, starting with Beccie being walked down the aisle by her proud son, Max. The ceremony was an emotional affair, witnessed by their closest circle – including a very special canine guest who travelled all the way from France to be part of the day!

After the “I dos,” the celebration moved to the terrace outside the Gladstone Room. This outdoor space is a dream for Sussex wedding photographers, offering a perfect backdrop for confetti shots and candid documentary photography as guests mingled in the sunshine.

Photographer’s Note: The Gladstone Room is one of my favourite spaces at South Lodge. The triple-aspect windows mean that even if the weather keeps you indoors, you still feel completely connected to the Sussex landscape, and the natural light is incredible for skin tones in your portraits.
