London Street Photography

City Hall to Mayfair

I had the pleasure to meet up with members of the photography community for a London Street Photo Walk, with the aim of taking some documentary street photography between City Hall on the Southbank of the Thames and onto Mayfair in Central London.

Documentary street photography is essentially documentary photography which is aimed at capturing people or places. This style of photography has been popular since the 1890’s. It is even more popular now through the use of both DSLR and mirrorless cameras, such as the Fuji X-T1 or Olympus OM-E-M5.

The photo walk was planned over 2 stages. A 1.00pm start from the London Eye on the Southbank and a 4.00pm start from Covent Garden. We took part in the first stage of the walk which took in the Southbank followed by a tube journey to Green Park. Our walk took in The Ritz Piccadilly, Burlington Arcade, Carnaby Street, and Piccadilly Circus. We then headed back down to Charing Cross railway station for our return home.

Before meeting up with the group on the Southbank, we stopped off at the City Hall/Tower Bridge area. This is a great place to capture architecture, people and nature in a relatively small location!

Below are a selection of our images taken on the day.
