A Competition-Winning Celebration: Kirsti & Ben at Knowle Country House
Kirsti and Ben hold a special place in our hearts as the winners of our Your Kent Wedding competition. After meeting them to hear their vision, we were thrilled to learn their day would be set at Knowle Country House in Higham – a privately owned Victorian manor nestled in 14 acres of orchards and walled gardens.
Bridal Style & A Vintage Arrival
Kirsti arrived at the venue in true vintage style – in a classic Morris Minor Convertible. We were there to capture the excitement as she was greeted by her bridesmaids before heading inside to get dressed.
The Knowle’s grounds are immaculately manicured, and even with a bit of typical English weather on the horizon, the vibrant borders and sprawling lawns provided a magnificent backdrop for those first pre-wedding portraits.
An Outdoor Gazebo Ceremony (With a Furry Guest!)
The ceremony was held outdoors at the garden gazebo, one of the most romantic spots at The Knowle. It was a deeply personal affair, made even more special by the inclusion of the couple’s dog and a touching blessing from their grandfather.
Following the vows, the couple took part in a symbolic dove release before heading off for a short, celebratory drive in their vintage Morris Minor.
Heartfelt Speeches & Musical Surprises
While the rain moved the reception indoors, the spirit of the day never wavered. The speeches were held in the main function room, featuring one of the most memorable moments we’ve captured: Ben performed a song he had composed specifically for Kirsti, serenading his new wife on the guitar in front of their teary-eyed family and friends.
Photographer’s Note: The transition from the outdoor terrace to the indoor function room at Knowle Country House is seamless. As a Kent wedding photographer, I always advise couples that a venue with a beautiful “Plan B” interior is essential – and The Knowle’s dining room and function spaces are just as photogenic as the gardens.
