Swallows Oast Wedding Photographer

One of the loveliest aspects of our work is getting to visit and photograph some amazing wedding venues across Southern England. There is always a great sense of excitement as we arrive at each venue on the morning of a wedding, wondering how the venue has been ‘dressed’ and what surprises lie in store for us and for the wedding party and their guests.

Swallows Oast is one of the loveliest wedding venues we have visited, and it is great pride that we are now recommended suppliers. We first visited Swallows Oast last winter to plan our Winter Bride Photo Shoot. The venue and surrounding grounds looked stunning – even on a grey winter’s day. They looked even more beautiful on the bright but bitterly cold day of our styled photo shoot.

Swallows Oast Ticehurst Winter Bride Photo Shoot

In December 2017, we had the pleasure of photographing a bridal photo shoot at a wonderful wedding venue in East Sussex. This was at Swallows Oast in  Ticehurst. The Oast is situated on Gibbs Reed Farm and was built in the 19th Century. It has been used as a banqueting hall since 1995. The venue has spectacular grounds and the Swallows Trail, a woodland path perfect for country weddings. A big ‘Thank You’ to Mark, the owner of Swallows Oast, for allowing us to use his wonderful venue and grounds for the photo shoot.

Groom Preparation for The Granary Estates Wedding Newmarket

Louise and Tom's Wedding at The Granary Barns, Newmarket, Suffolk

Groom Preparation for The Granary Estates Wedding Newmarket:

This summer we were asked to assist a fellow Guild of Photographers member Liz, with groom preparation and full day attendance for the wedding of Louise and Tom at The Granary Estates, Woodditton, near Newmarket.

We met with Tom, his best man, ushers and parents at The Packhorse Inn, Moulton. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, and there was plenty of time to capture some informal and posed shots in the grounds of the inn itself, and also in the surrounding area. Here are a few images from The Packhorse Inn, prior to heading off to the wedding venue itself.

Once we arrived at the wedding venue, preparations for the wedding ceremony were well underway, and we were able to capture Tom and his entourage meeting and greeting family and friends on their arrival.

It was our first visit to The Granary Barns, which were newly opened for 2013. They are set back from the family farm, and are surrounded by typical Suffolk countryside including established trees, pasture and farmland.  The restoration of the beautiful barn was completed in the spring of 2013 and has been in high demand ever since.

At the ceremony we captured images of Tom waiting for Louise’s arrival, and also we positioned ourselves to the rear of the ceremony room whilst Liz was positioned at the front. This meant that we were able to capture a greater variety of images and angles during the ceremony. After the ceremony itself, we focussed on informal reportage photography for the remainder of the day.

There is no doubt that using two photographers provides much broader coverage, allowing for time to capture both the bride and groom viewpoints during the day. It is also desirable having this extended photography coverage for your wedding album, to fully tell the whole story of the wedding day from beginning to end.
