Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are a few of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) we get asked before weddings or photo shoots. They may help you when choosing us for your wedding or photo shoot. If there are any other questions you would like to ask, please contact us. We’re always happy to answer any questions!

Who is the main photographer?

Tony will be the main photographer for your wedding or photo shoot. Carol may second shoot for all or part of the day to capture as much detail as possible. Occasionally an additional photographer may be required, but your contract will remain with us.

Are you insured for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity?

Absolutely. You should not book a photographer for your wedding or photo shoot who does not have insurance in place. Many venues will ask a photographer to provide a copy of their Public Liability insurance prior to being allowed to photograph there. We have fully insured our photographic equipment as well.

How far in advance do we need to book?

We will usually book up to 30 weddings a year. Booking early means you are more likely to get your chosen date for your wedding or photo shoot.

When do we meet you?

Typically we will meet with you prior to making a booking, as you will want to get to know us. We also want to find out about you and hear about your wedding plans or photo shoot requirements. For weddings, we will then meet with you approximately 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding day to confirm your plans.

Do you visit our venue?

If we haven’t photographed at your venue before then we will visit prior to your wedding or photo shoot. Even if we have photographed there before, we will contact the venue and find out if there have been any significant changes to the assigned rooms and layout. If there have been changes, we may revisit the venue.

Do we see all the images?

We will often take duplicate images on the day and sometimes photographs taken simply do not work. Our photography is based on a documentary wedding style and we want to provide you with a set of images that flow through the day. Your final gallery collection will reflect this.

Do we provide food for you at our wedding?

Whilst it is not in our contract, we really do appreciate being offered a meal or light snack for weddings of 8 hours or more. It will keep our energy levels up on a long day!

We don’t like having our photo taken! Help!

Having your photograph taken is a matter of confidence. For weddings, we recommend that you take advantage of our pre-wedding or engagement photo shoots, during which we will get to know you. On the wedding day itself, we photograph in an unobtrusive, relaxed documentary style to capture moments rather than creating a ‘posed photo shoot’. Be yourselves, relax and have fun…!

Do you take group photographs?

Yes, we do, but these are not the main focus for the day. We always have great fun with group shots – even when it means running up and down stairs to get the shot! We recommend that group shots are limited to around 10-15 as setting up each of these shots can take 3-5 minutes and this may take up about an hour of your day. If you don’t want any group shots taken, that’s fine too!

Who owns the copyright to the images?

The copyright to the images always remains with us. We do provide you with a Personal Print Licence and Copyright Notice which allows you to print the hi-res images as many times as you wish. We also provide you with a second set of images which have been resized for you to display on Facebook and other social media sites if you wish. These web sized images contain a small watermark but the hi-res images don’t. Due to copyright issues, you are not permitted to edit the images in any way – cropping, colour conversion, etc. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.

What happens if you can’t attend for some reason?

To date, we have not missed any of our booked weddings. Should anything prevent us from attending, we are members of The Guild of Photographers and will try to source a replacement photographer for your wedding day or photo shoot.  However, if you do not wish for us to source a replacement photographer, we will offer a full refund, excluding booking fee. As far as photo shoots are concerned, we usually agree a back-up date in advance which we may be able to re-schedule to. This will be the limit of our liability.

How do we book?

Once you have decided to book your wedding or photo shoot with us, you simply pay your £250 wedding booking fee or agreed photo shoot session fee and your day and time is reserved. Payments are accepted by bank transfer (preferred), credit/debit card, or by cash. We will send you a contract for your completion and ask you return this to us within 14 days of the booking. Payment of the booking fee implies you have accepted us as your wedding or photo shoot photographer and is non-refundable.
