We recently photographed the intimate Sevenoaks wedding of Paula & John at Darenth Valley Golf Club, in Shoreham, Kent. Paula and John wanted a small wedding for close family and friends at the golf club. They booked us because they liked our relaxed and unobtrusive documentary wedding photography style.

The Knowle Country House wedding venue is a privately owned home and country restaurant in the village of Higham, Kent. It is set in 14 acres and comprisese of a traditional English walled garden and orchards to the rear. It was also chosen as the location for the Kent wedding of Kirsti and Ben.
Kirsti & Ben were the winner’s of our 2015 competition, run in conjunction with Your Kent Wedding magazine. Following their announcement as the winners of the competition, we arranged to meet them at their home to listen to their wedding day plans. We were excited to find out that their wedding was to be held at the beautiful The Knowle Country House in Higham. Kirsti asked for coverage from the bridal preparations through to the evening’s speeches. We were more than happy to work to her plans.
Firstly, we made a pre-wedding visit to The Knowle prior to their wedding day. The grounds were in immaculate condition with a beautifully manicured lawn and borders. The main bridal preparations were away from The Knowle, with the bridal party simply opting to get dressed at the venue. The wedding ceremony was planned for outside in the gazebo with speeches to follow on the terrace. The wedding breakfast was to be held in the main dining room.
On the wedding day, Kirsti arrived at The Knowle in a vintage Morris Minor Convertible car and was greeted by her bridesmaids. We captured some wonderful pre-wedding images of Kirsti and her friends arriving. We then went to meet-up with Ben and his family before the ceremony started.
The wedding ceremony was a wonderful occasion, their dog was included too! Their grandfather giving a blessing at the end of the ceremony, and doves were released before Kirsti and Ben left for a drive in their vintage car.
On their arrival back at The Knowle, we managed to capture all of the wedding group formal shots before it started to rain. The speeches had to be done in the function room. This did not affect everyone’s enjoyment, and Ben had even composed a song for Kirsti which he sang to her in front of family and friends whilst playing the guitar!
After the wedding breakfast we captured documentary style photos of guests before departing to allow Kirsti and Ben to enjoy the rest of the evening with their family.

Hidden away just off the M2 in Kent is the gorgeous The Knowle Country House, a secluded wedding venue in the village of Higham, Kent.
It was originally built as a rectory in the 1850’s by a great friend of the author Charles Dickens. The property is situated in 14 acres of grounds which include beautifully maintained gardens and orchards. It is now a privately owned wedding venue and restaurant. The owner resides in the first floor apartment at the property.
Access from the main road is very easy with 2 separate entrances which bring you to the front of the main building. We loved the fact that there is ample shade from the established trees, perfect for us to capture informal and formal photographs of the bride and groom and the wedding party’s arrival.
Wedding ceremonies can be held outdoors in the gardens with the main centrepiece being a wonderful gazebo. In the event of poor weather conditions, the ceremony can take place in the light and airy function room which looks onto the gardens.
The lawns and grounds are beautifully maintained and there is a lovely surprise for couples (and photographers!) as behind the rear wall lies a pond and the orchards. It really is the perfect place to capture some beautiful natural wedding photographs..
Although this will be our first wedding at The Knowle, we have photographed at similar style venues and love working at these properties. As wedding photographers, we love the scope which the grounds allow for informal and relaxed photographs of guests mingling. There is also ample space for formal group shots, if required. The open shade allows us to place our brides and grooms in soft, diffused light to capture that ‘dreamy’ feel associated with those special moments.
As keen gardeners ourselves, we love the grounds of The Knowle for it’s beautiful manicured lawns, the roses and also the clever layout and design of the gardens. We also appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into planning and maintaining such a beautiful garden.
